Award-winning Chef Alex Seidel talks to Gourmet Glee about why he donates his time and expertly created soup and appetizers to support Soup for the Soul.
Soup for the Foodie’s Soul
13 FebPart of my interest in food and wine/beer lies in events that highlight local chefs and good causes. I’ve really enjoyed volunteering in the March of Dimes Star Chefs, St. Jude Children’s Hospital’s Fall Festival of Home, Belmar’s Festival Italiano and the Great American Beer Festival.
Coming up on Monday, Feb. 21 is Centura Health’s Soup for the Soul, a gathering of 15 Denver chefs, their soup creations and hundreds of supportive community members. It’s the 11th annual benefit to support the patients and families of Porter Hospice and St. Anthony Hospice. Register by Sunday, Feb. 20.
I’m really looking forward to meeting these chefs and trying new creations, especially Chef Jennifer Jasinski’s “Butternut Squash-Apple Ginger Soup” and TAG’s Troy Guard with the “Roasted Sunchoke Soup” (see more menus for the evening below).
